"Why would anyone in their right mind want to create a website and advertise to everyone in the world that they are a crossdresser?"

To be absolutely honest, a majority of those who have done so before me will tell you either one of two reasons.

If you, as a reader have arrived at this site intentionally, it is obvious that you have at the very least, some insight and knowledge about the subject of crossdressing. You may be here because you are the wife, fiancée, or girlfriend  who has just recently learned that your husband, husband to be, or boyfriend is a crossdresser and you're looking for some serious answers to serious questions. You just might be, and this is usually the case, a crossdresser yourself.

Whatever the reason you came to visit, welcome friend, and come back as often as you like. This site will be updated from time to time and I will try to add some new material as time allows.

"Just what is crossdressing and how commonplace is it?"

Crossdressing, sometimes referred to as CDing or transvestism, is a phenomenon occurring in approximately 10% of the male population. According to the studies I've seen and the publications I've read 10% is probably a very close estimate. Some sources have estimated the numbers to be as low as 1% while others have placed their estimates at 20%. The root cause of crossdressing  is not known although numerous theories exist as to why someone becomes a crossdresser. The latest, and the one which seems to be the most sound and logical, is that near the end of the first trimester of pregnancy before the genetic sex of the fetus has been determined, a massive 'wash' of hormones occurs. This 'wash' determines such characteristics as whether the baby will be male or female, hair color, eye color, the list is endless. The point in time when this occurs is thought to be when something happens which determines whether a male will have crossdressing desires and ambitions. Thus far this is the most convincing  explanation that I have heard to support male crossdressing.

"If it's so common, why have I never met a crossdresser?"

You just THINK you've never met any. The reality of the matter is that you actually probably have numerous friends who are crossdressers. If the above percentages are anywhere near correct (and they have been shown to be) you probably have several co-workers, fellow church members, social club members, golf partners, fishing buddies, and so forth who are crossdressers.

How would I know if I met one?

The truth is - YOU WON'T!  Why? Simply because crossdressers are actually no different than anyone else. As previously stated above, we could likely be your next door neighbor. We hold the same types of jobs as you - anywhere from a common laborer to the CEO of a major company.  We are happily  married and usually have children.  We live in houses that range from modest to extravagant.  We drive cars and trucks from old 'clunkers' to classics to the latest in style and technology.  We hold offices in all levels of government from the smallest local level to some of the highest federal offices.  We are the volunteers who help feed the homeless and roll up our sleeves when the local Red Cross declares blood supplies are critically low. To put it in simple terms, we contribute to the community just as much as anyone else and sometimes even more.

"Are there any females who do this?"

"What about females?", you ask. Well, stop and think about it for a minute. They too are subject to being exposed to the same hormone wash phenomenon mentioned above and no doubt there are just as many female crossdressers as there are men. However, since the female population in this country (and the rest of the free world for that matter) has the freedom to dress just about anyway they care to, it is much more difficult to identify female crossdressers. We can say without hesitation that they do exist, but a female in a pair of baggy pants, masculine shoes, short hair, etc. usually goes by relatively un-noticed  while a male in a dress, skirt, heels, or wearing makeup will create quite a sensation if he appears in public.

Therefore, as sad as it is, we can see that society, as a rule, looks upon  male and female crossdressers quite differently and forms what is commonly known as a "Double-Standard". It's OK for a woman to wear anything she so desires under the guise of fashion, but a different set of rules apply to men. And that is what sites such as this one are attempting to overcome.
