A Brief History - 10/4/00
Let me share this short history of my life with you .
I like most others started cross-dressing when I was very young, I was
eventually caught by my parents and shamed beyond belief. Over the
years as an adult I acquired clothing to dress with and had to keep it
secret out of the shame my parents instilled within me so many years
before.
I am now married to my second wife of 18 years, a couple years ago she
found my clothes and was instantly enraged. She felt betrayed, that she
did not know the man she had married .This could have been the end to a
long and unhappy story and even my life as I felt suicidal.
We both went into therapy where I met a most wonderful female therapist
at East Alabama Mental Health center, Opelika, Alabama. To make a long
story short, My wife is still with me, we are happier than we have ever
been, I no longer feel shame about myself and have become proud of what
I
am. I have come out to my children achieving complete acceptance.
I told my 17 year old daughter last Wednesday she said " Kewl" I said I
needed to dress and did. She was still home , and acted like it was the
normal *BIG SMILES*
My point is, rather than keeping it secret from the ones you love,
Given a chance they will support you and accept you for the wonderful
person that you really are.
I want to personally thank Stephie Leann and Sandilynns from Hasubet
and even Starlanne for their advise and comfort during the past year, I
would have not made it with out them !!
The Journey Continues - 10/4/00
I must be blessed with courage this week, on Wednesday I came out as a
transvestite to my 17 year old daughter and last nite I made a final
step in sending a very tearful e-mail to my brother in North Carolina,
telling of my transgenderism and my fears that he might not love me as
a brother anymore.
Let me say this , he not only accepted this revelation about me , he
offered his support and promised me no matter where this led me down
life's path, he would always be proud of me and be there for me. Yes
there is
truly a light at the end of the tunnel , where ever your path may lead
you. I also want to say special Thanks to Sandilyns, you are so very
special.
Final Steps - 10/4/00
Time and progress march on for me and my S.O. We continue to advance
down the footpath of mutual acceptance. Sharon has finally taken
another step and looked at my
pictures . This has been a major hurdle for her and a long time coming.
I am now
allowed to dress in the house when she is at home.
Although she has not seen me dressed face to face as of yet, I know in
my heart that bit is only a matter of time. When she does, I know i
will have total acceptance and my journey will be
complete. I urge anyone within the Transgendered Community to please
not be afraid to trust the ones you love , True love never ever fails,
and they will not abandon you......keep the faith Sisters.
Making Plans - 10/5/00
This Saturday there is to be a get together at the Inverness Holiday
Inn, sponsored by Audrey Coopercd of the Bama Belles, I plan to attend
and be dressed with my wife by my side . This is an absolute first for
the two of us. We have evolved in our relationship from December 1999
when my wife felt betrayed, angry hurt was crying a lot and was just
plain "P.O'd", to now 10 months later. She helps me with make-up,
buying clothes fashion ideas, and most importantly seeing me dressed
enfeme. The game plan is that she will be at this get together with
me.....Can you believe what a lot of understanding from my part and a
lot of patience can accomplish ?? I am told I am very lucky, I don't
know if luck enters into any of this ,or if it really is just a mutual
love for each other and total acceptance of who and what we are
together . I feel I am married to a wonderful person, my best friend,
my lover , my everything.
Thank you Sharon I love you dearly.
My First Outing - 10/10/00
As you know I have talked about my life as a Transvestite and the hurts
and barriers my wife and I have had to get through. Thank you to the
Bama Belle's - we have crossed the final hurdle. Last Saturday
night, the Belles sponsored a private little get together in
Birmingham. They rented this wonderful suite at the Residence Inn at
Inverness. It had a full kitchen, 2 baths, 2 bed rooms, a living room
with a fire place with a cozy sectional sofa in front of it, and a
dining area. This was the first time I have been in a suite with 2
floors. Well, enough about all that, the point I am trying to make is I
was dressed in my black leather mini and black satin blouse with my
usual make-up and accessories, and figure this...my wife has seen me in
a skirt for the first time and went with me to Inverness !! DYNOMITE
...... This is what we have worked so hard to accomplish for so very
long .The bottom line is, my wife said she had a good time and is
willing to go with me
again. Perhaps I am blowing my horn loudly on this subject, but I am
ecstatic. In conclusion, I want to add that irregardless of how
hopeless a situation may seem, it can be solved.
To bring closure to my story , needless to say the
first time I came out was October of 2000 , Shortly there after my beloved wife
Sharon came up with the idea that we start a support group for the Transgender
Community which we did on Oct 2,2000. we also sponsored a party in November 2000
also in Birmingham, Alabama and most recently had a party in the month of
June 2001 here at the house, Spousal acceptance is an elusive and hard to
achieve sacrifice on the woman in your life. It is perhaps one of the most
generous gifts she can ever bestow on you, so with each small step she makes,
cherish it and be thankful. I know I am .
Love To All,
